Dev Diary: Week #17

I've been thinking about a bad joke for a while but I can't think of anything, so how about we start the diary? Yeah, that sounds like a good idea.

I'm going to make a summary: Tomorrow is the public release but it's also the beta of the new version. I still have some things to finish but it should be all finished today and tomorrow I'll publish the beta.

Because of ~300 renders and ~700 lines of dialogue, I had to replan this whole version. I was supposed to do a short main quest, yeah... well, nope. It's a quest related to Maria so she deserves more attention.

Anyway, these weeks I've been focused on code restructuring and it's almost finished. I'll make the final touches in the next version. The same to finish a lot of things, especially in the easy mode.

Speaking of which, I've done a complete overhaul of the easy mode. It's worth noting that it's going to suffer a nerf of extra content, but... for that it's the easiest difficulty with almost no RPG elements.

I'll talk about the next version soon as the next version (v16) will be the last version in which I do revisions, reworks, etc. I'll do everything I've been putting off for a while. However, there will be a new main quest, as always (and this one will be short).

That aside... One of the reasons for not writing any diary these last weeks is demotivation due to external matters. Apart from that, I have had several personal issues that have taken some of my time.

Unfortunately, I've been a bit unmotivated because I've had a couple of bad experiences (and scams) trying to find a 2D artist. I wanted to offer interesting things to the patrons but unfortunately, that's going to have to wait until I get back in the mood to look for an artist that meets my expectations and certainly doesn't try to scam me. No one should worry too much, luckily I was able to get all my money back. I just don't want to dwell on it but I wanted to tell you about it.

A funny thing about all this: I've been looking to offer a fully voiced version to patrons. It would cost me between +50-100k€. So if anyone reads this and is thinking of suggesting voice stuff again... you know my answer.

That said, it's not all bad. LA's anniversary is coming up (24th), the beta is just around the corner (the public one too), and I will soon work on the short game for the second anniversary...

I don't want to go on much longer so I'll say goodbye here!

By the way, if anyone is interested, there is a mini-contest on Discord.

See you there!

I've loved this game and am happy to know it's getting another public update soon.

also, am I too ambitious? I went for hard mode right off the bat and have even allowed all the extra difficulty modifiers as well.
