Dev Diary: Week #29
I found the image I used as “next day” image in the early versions of LA so I decided to use it for this post.
Hey, hello there.
It hasn't been long since my last post this time, so that's good. My previous post was a bit rushed but I was feeling really sick, I knew I couldn't continue working at a normal pace so I took action. Actually, I only wrote the post on Patreon, I apologize for that.
The action was to apply for sick leave, luckily I have been granted it so at least I will be on sick leave until November/December. Among my different health problems, there is one in particular that occurred from the car accident I had last year... my suboccipital muscles are a bit fcked, and being so, I suffer several problems in my day-to-day due to that (dizziness, nausea, mental cloudiness, etc), also, spend so many years with the lifestyle I had so far has consequences (since pandemic), and now I have fcked the entire trapezius/sternocleidomastoid. Not to mention that my stomach is still sore from the virus I had, so when my stomach complains, I have a hard time. Anyway... Wishing for all this to end, for the year to end too, and to be able to look to the horizon with new hopes.
Leaving my health issues and sedentary lifestyle aside... I've been making changes recently. Although I'm in the process of healing, recovering, etc, I couldn't keep sitting at home doing nothing, it was doing me more harm than good, so I tried to see all the possibilities before taking the step of quitting this job for good and going back to a “normal” job.
I don't know why I didn't think about it before, but libraries are an almost perfect place to study, but also to work.
So after thinking about it for a few days, I decided to invest in a laptop and start looking for libraries near where I live.
It's my almost second week going to a library near where I live and so far the experience is not bad: Usually, there is almost absolute silence, I can concentrate and think calmly, my mind separates a lot what is work and my personal life, etc... They also have opening/closing hours, so thanks to that I force myself to work only during the hours I am in the library. Although I always set aside a day to work at home.
As an off-topic note, I will say that I work X hours, and during other X hours, I study Japanese as a hobby, because someday I would like to be able to make Natsuki, her descendant, or whatever say well-translated expressions without having to google it (and because in my personal life I don't want to die without having traveled to Japan sometime so I would like to learn even the basics).
So for the moment, I don't have many complaints. The laptop has somewhat limited hardware so I can't use it for HS2, but I can use Koi without problems so... not too bad.
It was a situation I didn't know if it was going to work or not, so I didn't want to invest a lot in the laptop. I can use it for anything LA-related so no complaints.
What have I been doing so far? These days I'm learning how to write the basic syllables in Japanese (hiragana), but I don't think anyone is interested in that, so... nah, I haven't been working much because I had to get the laptop ready.
Actually... I have Yuna's story already written, and I've even revised it once and rewritten several things. At the moment it's all in Spanish so there's not much to show.
I'm not working on renders for now, as I'm focused on designing the basic features and interfaces.
Today I've been working on how some features gonna work. Also working on the concept of the main interface.
And as I want to avoid using the computer as much as possible, I've gone back to planning stuff as I did in the old days:
Yeh, when LA was being born, I used to write things down in a notebook. I also did some crappy stuff in Paint but that's a story for another day.
I know, I have ugly handwriting. My parents always said I had the handwriting of a doctor, what they didn't know is that my destiny was to dedicate myself to IT so I would never have to write by hand.
And yes, the image that you can see on the screen is a random image that I saw on Google when I was thinking about how I wanted the main interface (desktop interface) to be.
In case anyone missed some posts, I'm working on “LA: Memories”. It's part of this year's anniversary but it's a side project that I'll be working on from time to time.
That said... Although I'm not 100% well, I'm trying to keep moving forward because honestly, I was reaching a critical point where I was having very unpleasant thoughts every day and feeling like sht. Luckily I am slowly feeling better and I hope it stays that way.
That's not what I wanted to say though, what I wanna say is that the anniversary game should be available later this month or later in November. Not only that, a new version of LA should come before the end of the year, although it will be a very very short version.
See you soon!

I haven't actually played your game yet but stumbled on this page looking for totally regular RPGs on twitch. I checked your dev log and I hope your life gets on a solid track soon.
Honestly, if you can make a game, it should be fairly easy for you to get into programming, data analysis etc., lots of courses on Udemy etc. My friend had success getting a high paying tech job by joining a coding bootcamp that doesn't require upfront payment but you sign an agreement to give them a small portion of your salary for 2 years after you land a job.
Look these up and maybe that's a way to get a less stressful day job and then focus on yourself a bit. Also please do excercise and stuff, it has been wonders to by own mental health, way way more than I expected, also really boosts self-easteem etc,
(sorry for commenting on this post, it's just the latest. Hope you get better)
guys, if your game is not launching at all (the process isn't even starting, log is not changing), I've found the solution:
Change the language of your folders to your system language (for example, my system language is english and my path for the lust age was: "D:\бесполезно но я оставлю D\LustAge-0.21.0-pc" which consists of russian letters, once I've renamed the path to "D:\GameD\LustAge-0.21.0-pc", it launched)
Keisei, if someone asks for help with this problem, just send them my comment
Hope you get well soon!
Sorry to hear that😭, GET WELL SOON!
