Devlog#14: Bug Report (Phase 1)
Back to Work: Updates, Website News & A Huge Bug Fix List
Good morning, everyone! After a few days of "rest," we are back to normal.
And I say "rest" because I haven't really rested much. Although I spent some time playing and relaxing, I felt more like working.
Before we get started, here's a reminder of the development phases for this v1:
Roadmap for v1
Phase 1 (We are here): Finish fixing all reported bugs and apply a general balance (stats, materials, crafting, etc.).
Phase 2: Finish the redesign of all interfaces.
Phase 3: Implement all content that is currently incomplete.
Phase 4: At the same time as Phase 3, work on exclusive content for the paid versions (Patreon).
Phase 5: Correct all story inconsistencies (quests, tasks, etc.).
Phase 6: Re-translate all the text that hasn't been checked by Robin, the Proofreader.
Phase 7: Begin the usual release cycle: BETA -> EA -> Public Version.
What's New: New Website & Content Hub
The past few days, I've been focused on working on my website: keisiestudio. It's nothing super epic, but it works. For now, I'm using it so the posts can be seen directly in Spanish, but in the future, I plan to have a collection of posts in both languages to use as a repository.
Also, I have moved all the paid content there. Now, any content like early access, betas, wallpapers, etc., that I post on Patreon will be stored on my website. Thanks to the "Patreon Login" plugin, I've added an extra layer of security against "automated leaks." I know this is the internet, but hey, it never hurts. For patrons, it literally means two more clicks. Also, this is managed by Patreon, so I don't see or store anything.
But that's not the main reason. My reason for having my own website is... well, why not? As I said in another post, it was a Patreon goal years ago that was met and passed by a long shot. I've always wanted to have a place where I can manage all kinds of information about the universe we are building together.
For now, the website is focused on hosting paid content, but in the future, I will add additional features. For example, right now you can see all the wallpapers (including the public ones) and the new W.I.P.
Bug Report (Beta > Now)
Leaving that aside... The past few days, I've been collecting all the bugs that have been found, reported, and fixed from the beta until now.
Here is a detailed list:
- The names of the main interface panels (Map, Stats, Journal, etc.) now display correctly, fixing the bug that caused a blank space to appear when hovering any general icon.
- Fixed multiple "Image not found" errors that appeared in several parts of the game.
- Made many alignment adjustments in all interfaces to fit the new text font.
- Since the "favorite girl" selection is now done from the main interface, a bug in the inventory has been fixed where missing images appeared instead of the girls' cards, which should no longer be shown there.
- The "Rudimentary Axe" will now appear correctly in the inventory if you get it before meeting Glenda.
- The "Girls" counter on the achievements screen now shows the real progress, allowing the bar to fill up correctly.
- The images in the Adventurer's Guide have been updated, replacing old interface screenshots with the new designs.
- Similarly, old images that appeared in some quests when introducing new features (like Perks) have been replaced.
- Fixed a problem that caused the sound or music from one area to keep playing when travelling to another. For example, the hot springs sfx will no longer play when you return to the Manor entrance.
- The profession quest will no longer appear as pending when talking to Maria at the Refuge after it has been completed.
- Girls who have not yet been met will no longer appear in the "Fast Navigation" panel.
- Corrected some story inconsistencies in the choice menus during the "The Gold Valley Aspirant" quest. This point needs a final review in phase 5.
- Now you cannot navigate between all the secondary girls' profiles using the arrows if you have only met Glenda.
- Removed the possibility for Yuna to gain "Love" experience during the "An Unexpected Visit" quest before that stat is unlocked. This change will be reviewed again in phase 5.
- The choices menu for all secondary girls has been reorganized so that the "chit-chat" (new feature) option always appears in the same position.
- Fixed a bug that caused all "chit-chat" options for some secondary girls to be fully unlocked from level 2.
- Some exploration achievements have been temporarily disabled, as not all of the girls' stats are available in this first version.
- Corrected inconsistencies that happened during the weekend when using the "Pat" interaction with Yuna. This point will be reviewed again in phase 3.
- The hints (new feature) for all the girls had visual issues or were unlocked too early. This has been fixed.
- Fixed a visual bug in Anna's panel where her "Love" stat seemed to unlock at the wrong level, although it did not affect her progress.
- The new look of the progress bar and the "Level up!" pop-up now show correctly for all main girls when spending time with them.
- The text in the description of Yuna's "Love" tasks has been updated, removing a reference to a non-existent level 6.
- The girls' location icons on the map now display correctly during weekends, showing their different locations (new feature).
- Anna now shows the correct dialogue menus during the weekend when you talk to her in her room.
- Corrected the information about the materials and gold needed for Yuna's level 6 task, so the amounts shown match what is required.
- Some of Glenda's chit-chat dialogues have been assigned correctly, fixing a bug that caused her to also say the MC's lines.
- The new redesign of the crafting interface caused some issues. For example, it is no longer possible to craft the green backpack infinitely (and no, it was not a reference to Scape from Tarkov).
- Additionally, several recipes in the crafting interface now show the correct materials.
- It is no longer possible to unlock the "Panty Collection" (new feature) without meeting Mara first.
- The exploration system (new feature) has been fixed, where some elements were unlocking incorrectly or not at all.
- Along with the above, it is now possible to update the map the 9 times planned for this version, removing the block that prevented getting past the sixth update.
- Fixed an error that allowed talking to Mara during the weekend before she was unlocked.
- Lisapi's first quiz (quiz I) now unlocks in the correct quest, right after meeting Mara.
- Mona's location when talking to her is now correct.
- Fixed a bug in the Marketplace (new feature) that prevented buying a pack of 5 items (x5) even with enough money and inventory space.
- Commissions (new feature) that asked for gifts can now be completed correctly if you have the necessary items.
- Mara will no longer appear in two places at the same time during weekends.
- In "Fast Navigation," Mara's morning location is now shown correctly (Central Plaza).
- Using Yuna's favorite button during weekends will now take you to her correct location.
- The pending task icon (trust scroll) now displays correctly on the map when a girl has a task available.
- The location's name will now only appear once instead of showing up repeatedly if you spend time in the same place.
- When playing in Spanish, English texts will no longer appear when the girls do not have tasks available.
- The "Duty" system now works correctly.
- The amount of experience secondary girls need to level up now scales correctly, so level 2 no longer requires the same experience as level 1.
- When one of your favorite girl's stats reaches the max level, the new circular progress bar (new feature) now shows as completely full.
- Several spelling errors in the texts have been corrected.
- Necessary re-translations have been made in several parts of the game. This actually belongs to another phase, but was done during the last early access.
I tried to summarize some points, because if I listed every single text or alignment error... the list would be three times as long.
Bugs: A New Approach
My goal with this "Bug Report" is to start a new dynamic with you all.
As a dev, finding bugs is a part of my daily life. However, I always saw it as a bad thing when someone found a bug, as if I had failed doing my job. This created a lot of pressure. My idea is to change that mindset and accept that these things happen during development.
Not only that, but my intention is to make you part of this. I have always been very grateful when someone reports a problem. In fact, 90% of the bugs in this first version were reported by Locu (The Bug Hunter), and the rest by Green (King) and me. Without those reports, the public version (and any early access) would be a disaster.
I completely understand that finding bugs is my job, not yours. That's why I'm looking for a practical and fair solution for everyone.
My idea? Right now, you can contact me on Twitter (DM), Patreon chats, or Discord. But I'm working on adding an in-game form so you can make reports while you play.
"Much blah-blah, but little action." I know, but I promise you that I am already planning how to reward those who report bugs, whether casually or actively. I can't give you an irl 10/10 waifu, so it will be something symbolic, but something that feels rewarding.
What's Next?
For the rest of the week, I'm going to work on the general balancing of the game. This might mean not just changing numbers here and there (materials, gold, experience), but also adding new things and improving others (like the Marketplace). I want to make sure everything is as balanced as possible for the long term.
See you on Friday!
